We wanted to share our experience and film everything for you! So we VLOGGED the whole journey from Preparations to the actual summit day! We tried to make it into a friendly "Online Series" format so hope you have fun watching. In this episode we hike from Pico de Orizaba's base camp of the Piedra Grande Hut up to the glacier. The purpose of this hike is to acclimatize & to understand the trail so that we know where to go on the actual summit day which starts at 1 or 2 am. We also have the intent to leave our glacier gear (crampons, ice axes, helmets, rope, harnesses, & extra water) at the base of the glacier for faster and easier ascent on summit day. On the way up we meet really nice people from the famously known Mexican Chapingo University (Universidad Autónoma Chapingo). The students are freshman and they are out there on a field trip to study the local fauna and flora. We make friends with them and learn some new Mexican slang ;). As we separate from the university group we continue our hike up through the labyrinth to the base of the glacier. Watch more to find out what happens next!! This is Episode 3 out of 3 (there is a behind the scenes interview episode). Episode 1: Episode 2: Hope you enjoy it and get inspired to do something similar yourself - feel free to let us know in the comments below if you have questions or what are some of your unrealized projects (soon to be realized ;) )!
